Real conversations about fitness, service, mental health, and what it means to hold yourself to a higher standard.
Why This Podcast
THE CONVERSATIONS THAT NEED TO HAPPEN
The Numbers Are Real
22 veterans are lost to suicide every single day. First responders face PTSD at five times the civilian rate. Firefighter suicides exceed line-of-duty deaths. These aren't just statistics. They're people. Brothers. Sisters. Parents. Friends.
Where It Actually Happens
The conversations that save lives don't happen in waiting rooms or behind closed doors. They happen on runs at mile three. Over coffee after a workout. Between people who get it, because they've been there.
Enough With the Old Playbook
The culture around service still says "suck it up" and "push through." We're done with that. It's time for something different.
This Is That Something
This podcast is an extension of that mission. A place where real talk lives. No scripts, no polish. Just truth.
The Name
WHAT IS "THE STANDARD"?
In the military, the standard is everything. It's the bar you hold yourself to when nobody's watching. It's showing up when it's easier not to. It's being better today than you were yesterday, not because someone told you to, but because you demand it of yourself.
That's what this podcast is about. Not perfection. Not some unattainable ideal. It's about accountability. It's about the commitment to keep moving forward. One mile, one conversation, one day at a time.
"The standard is the standard. You either meet it or you don't. And if you don't, you get back up and go again."
What to Expect
MORE THAN JUST A PODCAST
Each episode dives into a different corner of the veteran and first responder experience. Here's what we're building.
Guest Interviews
Sitting down with veterans, first responders, race directors, and community leaders who are living the mission every day.
Mental Health
Honest, no-BS conversations about PTSD, depression, anxiety, and the invisible wounds that don't show up on an X-ray.
Race Day Stories
The finish line moments that changed everything. First 5Ks. Comeback marathons. The races that proved the doubters wrong.
Community Spotlight
Highlighting the people and groups across the country who are building something bigger than themselves.
First Responder Focus
Dedicated episodes for the firefighters, paramedics, and officers who run toward the danger, and what happens after.
OWF Updates
Behind-the-scenes looks at Operation WarriorFit. Where we're headed, what we're building, and how you can be part of it.
The Vision
WHERE WE'RE HEADED
Break the Stigma
Every episode normalizes the conversation around mental health, struggle, and asking for help. If one person hears something that makes them pick up the phone, it was worth it.
Build Community
The Standard isn't just content. It's a gathering point. A place where veterans and first responders find people who understand, and civilians learn how to support them.
Reach More People
Not everyone can make it to a starting line. But everyone can press play. The Standard extends OWF's mission beyond race entries, into ears, homes, and lives across the country.

Your Host
JONATHAN MILKOVICH
Army veteran. Endurance athlete. Founder of Operation WarriorFit. Told he'd never run again after years of airborne operations. He's since crossed multiple half marathon and marathon finish lines.
Jonathan started OWF because a starting line changed his life, and he believed it could change others. Now he's bringing that same raw honesty to the mic, having the conversations that need to happen with the people who are living them.
