Who is eligible for Operation WarriorFit?

OWF serves U.S. military veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, National Guard members, and first responders (police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and nurses). We operate on the honor system, trusting that applicants meet our eligibility criteria.

How do I apply for race entries?

Visit our application page and fill out the online intake form. You'll confirm your service status, select your preferred race types, and note any goals or limitations. Applications are reviewed weekly, and you'll receive a welcome email once approved.

Is there a cost to participate?

Race entries through OWF are either free or available for a nominal $9.95 fee, depending on the event and partnership arrangement. This is significantly discounted from standard race registration costs.

Do I need to verify my military or first responder status?

Currently, we operate on the honor system. As we grow, we plan to implement ID.me verification or similar third-party verification for streamlined, secure confirmation of service status.

What types of races does OWF support?

We support a wide variety of events including 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, marathons, obstacle course races (Spartan, Tough Mudder, GoRuck), triathlons, trail races, and virtual events. Our database includes 200+ race opportunities.

What if the race I want isn't in your database?

You can submit a Race Request Form through our website. We track the volume of requests for each race and use that data to approach race directors for future partnerships. The more requests we receive, the higher the likelihood of securing spots.

How does the lottery system work for high-demand races?

When demand exceeds the number of available entries for a given race, OWF uses a random-selection lottery. Each eligible participant receives one (1) entry into the drawing at no cost — no purchase, payment, or additional action is required to enter the lottery. Recipients are selected at random by our system, and all eligible entrants have an equal chance of being chosen. If selected, you will receive a notification email with instructions to secure your race entry. A nominal administrative fee (currently $9.95) is required to confirm and secure your entry. This fee must be paid within 48 hours of receiving your selection notification. If the fee is not received within 48 hours, your entry may be forfeited and reassigned to another eligible participant.

Where are OWF races located?

We operate nationwide across all 50 states! Our Spartan Race partnership provides unlimited entries to any Spartan event across the country, and we partner with races in every region.

How are lottery recipients selected?

All eligible participants receive one (1) entry into the lottery at no cost. No purchase or payment is necessary to enter the lottery or to be selected. Recipients are chosen entirely at random by our system, and every eligible entrant has an equal chance of selection regardless of donation history, tenure, or any other factor. If you are selected, a nominal administrative fee (currently $9.95) is required within 48 hours to confirm and secure your race entry. This fee covers event registration processing and is separate from the lottery itself. Failure to pay within the 48-hour window may result in forfeiture of the entry.

Will OWF have a points or rewards system in the future?

We are developing a points-based engagement system that will reward accountability, participation, and community involvement. While this system is not yet active, we are tracking participation and engagement data now. When the points system launches, early participants may be recognized for their prior activity and commitment. Details will be announced as the program takes shape.

What happens if I can't make a race I signed up for?

We understand life happens. If you can't attend, please notify us as soon as possible so we can potentially reassign the entry to another warrior. Repeated no-shows without notice may affect future lottery eligibility, as we want to ensure donated entries go to participants who will use them.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes! Operation WarriorFit is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 33-2673785). All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

How are donations used?

Approximately 70% of donations go directly to funding race entries for participants. The remaining funds support operations (technology, outreach, program management) and growth (expanding partnerships and reaching more warriors).
